We are at the time of year when we’re constantly moving between heat indoors and cold outside. Changes in temperature can lead to flare-ups of acne and the feeling of being a teenager again.
Autumn acne appears when the thickness of the skin starts to diminish because the horny layer grows thicker in the hot months when you spend more time in the sun as a natural defence against the external environment. This defends us during summer, but the number of dead cells rises significantly, pores get blocked and infection appears later when the cold weather arrives, and the skin thins out.
Acne can develop anywhere on the body, although it most commonly appears on the face, neck, neckline or back. It is a genetic disease so if your parents had it you are more likely to get it too. It also appears in hormonal disorders and can be exacerbated by poor diet, stress or touching the lesions (pimples and whiteheads).
ACNIOVER PURIFYING GEL will deep-cleanse your skin, remove excess oil and balance the skin's microflora so that bacteria do not proliferate.
Use Acniover Active Cremigel on clean, dry skin every morning and night. It mattifies and minimises pores and blackheads and is an oil-free moisturiser. Be sure not to confuse moisturisation with nutrition. Moisturisation provides or retains the water that is necessary for all skin types, while nutrition is for skin that needs a provision of lipids (normal/dry skin)
Deep-cleanse your skin once a week.
Step 1: Exfoliate skin, massaging gently for around two minutes. Rinse off with cold water.
*If you are at a bad point in the flare-up, you can skip this stage until your skin has calmed down after a few days of treatment with ACNIOVER GEL and ACNIOVER CREMIGEL.
Step 2: Apply PURE MASK. A clay mask that cleanses and removes impurities. Leave it to work for 10-15 minutes and rinse off with plenty of water.
Acne has its own process and you must be consistent and follow the advice of your dermatologist or pharmacist.
