The origin of proteoglycan ampoules

Do you remember the first time you heard of proteoglycan ampoules? It might have sounded strange at the time: proteoglycans? What are those? If we can be sure of one thing, it’s that these famous products have earned a fantastic reputation; it’s no longer unusual to hear people (including myself) raving about their effects. Proteoglycan ampoules have a wide range of benefits for the skin. Best of all: they work perfectly.

Yeah, you already guessed it. We love our ampoules and I’m not ashamed to declare myself a devoted admirer: they are never missing from my routine, year round, although I do change the range or type of ampoule I use depending on the time of year or the intensive treatments my skin might need.

Despite the diverse range of ampoules available, today’s post is going to focus on the specific features of our oldest proteoglycan: the classic, the original, the one everybody knows as “the ones in the green box”.

MartiDerm was the first pharmaceuticals lab to bring a treatment ampoule to the world of dermocosmetics, sowing the seed for an authentic skincare revolution.

The ampoule contains two ingredients: 3 % proteoglycans and 5 % pure vitamin C. This unique yet effective combination is capable of moisturising the skin and improving its elasticity and firmness, correcting the effects of free radicals with its antioxidant action, and gives our face a glow and perfect appearance from the first application.

The first ampoule we are looking at today, like the rest of the range, has an oily texture with a silky finish. This means that it is easily absorbed on application, leaving your skin feeling comfortable and fresh. That’s why we usually recommend these for people with drier and/or dehydrated skin.

What age should we start using them? In fact, we don’t make recommendations based on a person’s age. Rather, we seek to improve the condition and appearance of the skin, according to the individual’s needs. This is very important, as we often make the mistake of thinking that our needs depend on our age. Everything depends on our living habits, the care we take of our skin and our genetic inheritance.

How should we apply proteoglycan ampoules?

We recommend applying half an ampoule on the face, neck and neckline. You can do this in the day and/or at night. Make sure you don’t forget to use the rest of the ampoule within a maximum of two days of opening it, to get the greatest benefit from the product (before the vitamin C oxidises).

As we were saying, we can apply our usual treatment after it is absorbed: moisturising, depigmenting or sun protection products. Each product will have a complementary function and penetrate differently. This means we will be able to provide much more specific care for our skin’s different needs.

As we have seen, the years take no toll on proteoglycan ampoules. In the coming months, we will discover more properties and unique characteristics of the rest of the proteoglycan family. We invite you to keep your fingers on the pulse and get all the details from our posts. Are you up for it?
