It often happens, that despite following an appropriate skin care routine, we notice that our face has lost vitality or radiance. We should ask ourselves why, before resorting to using make-up to help.
Our skin needs appropriate care that mainly depends on its genetically-determined phototype, but which also depends on our habits and the weather conditions that we are exposed to. For example, some studies have shown that stressful or tiring situations or not getting enough sleep can negatively influence the appearance of opacities, expression lines or puffy and baggy eyes.
Today we are bringing you a list of 5 essential tips to give the New Year a twist and to leave this winter shade of grey behind as quickly as possible:
1.Deep cleansing: exfoliators
Radiant skin is directly related to how clean and healthy it is. You should use an appropriate skin exfoliator once a week, depending on if you tend to have dry skin or a normal typology. Cleaning the deep layers has a regenerating and rejuvenating effect on the skin’s basal layer. Additionally, cleansing prevents blocked pores and cleans the skin, giving it a brighter and healthier appearance.
2.Intense hydration: revitalising treatments
Deep hydration is fundamental for the recovery of our skin’s corneal layer and to make it look more radiant. Vitamin C is essential for this, combined with other A and E vitamins. Other ingredients such as caffeine and retinol have the same effect. We also advise you to use moisturising creams like a face mask at night to benefit from the nocturnal and regenerating effects.
3.Reduce spots: depigmentation treatments
Lesions and spots usually appear as a result of the weather and the misuse of sun protection products. This type of hyperpigmentation is a visible effect of aging. We can use agents that soften this condition, such as AHA (alpha-hydroxy acids) by including certain products that work overnight. We will thus achieve a more desirable and homogenous effect on the contours of the face.
4.Specific treatments
There are other types of more irritating treatments, such as chemical peels with trichloroacetic acid, which can achieve a stronger effect thanks to the initial desquamative and subsequent regenerating effects. But you should be aware that they are more aggressive.
However, we can use topical treatments with concentrated components, such as serums, to help firm the skin and reduce flaccidity. Or choose a treatment in the form of an enclosed ampoule with nutritious components that instantly activate when applied to our face.
5.Diet: antioxidants
It is very important to combine topical treatments with a diet that has the catalysts and enzymes necessary for the proper metabolism of the skin. A diet rich in antioxidants reduces the inflammatory processes that cause wrinkles.
To increase your consumption of antioxidants we recommend you to increase your intake of fruit, a source of vitamins (bananas, pineapples, apples, pomegranate), vegetables high in vitamin C and A, antioxidants and beta-carotenes (carrots, green peppers) and whole grains, for fibre’s regulating effect.
